 CURRENT PROBLEM / NEED

Poverty, Diseases and Ignorance (illiteracy) are the three major factors affecting human societal growth and the entire development. However poverty is the worst among the factors mentioned because it undermines the capacity of individuals and societies to respond to illiteracy and diseases.

A large segment of about 90% of the rural population, however still live in abduct poverty with low income levels, poor nutrition, unemployment, lack of decency, poor housing  and lack of house hold utensils. This has been the subject of major contention in terms of lower output than targets. Because the increased budget has not met the targets established in terms of output. There are clearly issues to address regarding poverty alleviation in the rural areas especially Bukoyo Community, Iganga District.

The population of about 4058 people, 10% is productive, this does not support the general growth of the country in terms of development but as this 4058 population is empowered, we believe can contribute to the GDP of the country.

IESY has been motivated to identify well wishers to promote and improve on the general standard of living of the population through identifying and empowering the rural poor especially the through projects such as Piggery, Poultry and reduce on the vulnerability of the poor population and even reduce on environment degradation with all its forms inflicted by the rural poor. However, its services are limited due to;

1.     Limited funding to finance and expand its projects to a large number of beneficiaries

2.     Shortage of market for its output such as pigs, piggery products, Colonal Coffee Seedling and Poultry products

3.     Shortage of support mainly from the Government, related NGOs both local and foreign, institutions and individual well wishers.

4.     High level of poverty where the locals are very poor leading to low saving capacity to enable them set up small self help projects
